Police charge St. Pete mom with abusing month-old baby and sending pics of abuse to boy's father

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A St. Petersburg woman took cell phone photos while abusing her month-old baby boy and sent the photos to the boy's father, St. Petersburg Police said.

Brittany Lester is charged with aggravated child abuse. Her baby was taken into custody by state welfare workers.

According to St. Petersburg Police spokesman Mike Puetz, "The mother started to send the father several text photos of the infant in disturbing positions."

Lester sent photos of the one-month-old baby in the toilet, upside down in a trash can, underneath a mattress, and with a plastic bag over his head, Puetz said.

The father called police, who tracked the woman to a St. Petersburg motel and arrested her.
