ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - An elderly man is in critical condition after he was struck by an unmarked St. Petersburg police cruiser.

The crash happened Tuesday morning. Police say 85-year-old Benjamin Kincaid was riding his bicycle and made an abrupt left turn in front of the police car.

Officer Lenard Cox swerved to avoid hitting Kincaid, but authorities say the right front of the police cruiser struck Kincaid and his bicycle.

Kincaid wasn't wearing a helmet and was thrown from his bicycle. He was taken to an area hospital.
