ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A bank robbery suspect is in custody after he was caught leaving the scene of the crime, according to St. Petersburg police. They believe the same man robbed a SunTrust Bank on Tuesday.
Detectives were in the area of the BB&T Bank at 100 34th Street North around 9:20 Wednesday morning when they spotted a suspect who resembled the person caught on surveillance video in Tuesday's robbery.
He was arrested with cash in hand after he left the BB&T Bank, according to a police statement.
He had handed a teller a note demanding cash, according to police. He was not armed and there were no injuries.
He is tentatively identified as Michael L. Ingram, 39, of St. Petersburg.
Police say the suspect in the SunTrust robbery at 3100 Central Avenue also handed over a note, was given cash and fled on foot.
