Drunk driver blows through stop sign, killing motorcyclist, St. Petersburg Police say

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - St. Petersburg Police say a drunk driver blew through a stop sign and plowed into a motorcycle killing the driver of the bike.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on U.S. 19 and 34th Avenue North.

Police say a 1999 Mercedes SUV driven by Velimir Cecez was traveling eastbound on 34th Avenue North and disregarded the stop sign at 34th Street North. The Mercedes hit a motorcycle driven by 24 year-old John E Olsen of St. Petersburg. Olsen was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

Cecez had minor injuries.

Cerez has been charged with DUI manslaughter.
