ST. PETERSBURG - A 30-year-old man was pulled from Brandywine Apartments' pool around 11 a.m. Sunday, St. Petersburg Police said.

According to officers, the man had been swimming in the residential pool. While the man was in the water he proposed a bet to a witness near by asking how long they thought he would swim under water.

A short time later a resident at the complex found the swimmer lying at the bottom of the pool and pulled him from the water.

He was transported to St. Petersburg General Hospital where he was declared dead.

Officers do not know if the man was a resident at the complex, a guest or had trespassed into the pool area.

They do not suspect any foul play and believe the incident was an accident.
