ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A two-alarm fire broke out at a St. Petersburg home overnight. Firefighters found a man inside who was hospitalized with third-degree burns.
The call went out around 1 a.m. Eight people were in the home at 2250 2nd Avenue North, according to reports.
Seven were able to escape the flames. Firefighters found an unconscious male in a second-story hallway. He was taken down a ladder and transported to Bayfront Medical Center with second and third degree burns.
He was later transferred to the Tampa General Burn Unit.
It's believed the fire started in a vacant second-story bedroom. The cause is under investigation.
