ST. PETERSBURG - Watch dragon boat racers paddle on the waterfront in downtown St. Petersburg today.

At the Paddles Up St. Pete festival on October 6, you also have the opportunity to test drive kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards.

The festival is hosted by The United States Power Squadron, a non-profit organization dedicated to marine education, safety and making boating fun.

It all takes place in Poynter Park and Bayboro Harbor, adjacent to USF's St Petersburg campus between 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.  It's free and open to the public.

This innovative, multi-faceted event features all-day dragon boat racing, one of the fastest-growing watersports in the United States. Teams are traveling from all over Florida to participate in this inaugural festival.
