ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - It's all about the Tampa Bay Rays at John and Leslie Huston's home, and not just on game day.
"We love the Rays win or lose. We are fanatical fans," Leslie said. "We support them."
"And we have been fans since day one," John chimed in.
They have gone the distance in their show of dedication. Last October, Leslie and John tied the knot at Tropicana Field, replacing tuxes and gowns with Rays garb.
Back at their home in St. Petersburg, the couple said, "We were lucky enough to have ABC Action News cover our wedding," Leslie said.
That's because the story on abcactionnews.com caught the attention of baseball officials.
"We were contacted by Major League Baseball and they had done a Google search on Tampa Bay Rays fans and they found us and two other people to be put in this contest, which was a voting contest on mlb.com," John said. "We won the vote contest, and the next thing you know, we were the fan voice of the Rays for a day."
So, for one game, the Hustons played announcer. It was their voice Rays fans heard booming from the Jumbotron.
The fame, they said, was fun. But as Leslie explained, the experience was about so much more than them.
"Truthfully, what I feel is the more exposure through us or anybody else the Rays have great fans," Leslie said.
No matter what, this couple supports their team. They celebrated their honeymoon by watching the Rays take on the Rangers a year ago, and are celebrating their first anniversary the exact same way!
For the Hustons, it's the best anniversary gift ever.
