ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Even the savviest shoppers know that finding a brand new $1200 wedding gown at a Goodwill store doesn't happen everyday.
But at two events in June, Goodwill is going to sell 350 name brand wedding dresses for a fraction of their original prices. The fourth annual Wedding Gown Galas events will benefit Goodwill programs for people with disabilities.
In past years, women have lined up at the stores hours before opening, to be among the first to try on and buy the discount gowns.
Designer brands include Demetrios, Justin Alexander, Private Label by G and La Sposa.
Organizers say the gowns are worth $500 to $1,250, and will sell from $90 to $300.
The dresses are being donated by Tampa Bay area bridal shops: A. Roseman Bridal Party in Largo, Athena's Bridal Boutique in Clearwater, CC's Boutique in St. Petersburg. Tampa stores making donations include Diana's Bridal, Formal Source, Olga's Bridal & Boutique and Stella's Bridal & Formal Wear.
Several sizes and styles will be on sale. The two-day event will take place at two different stores, and each event will have different selections.
The event kicks off at 6 am Friday June 4 at the Goodwill Superstore at 3929 Tampa Rd, Oldsmar. The second event will be at 6 am Saturday June 5 at the new Goodwill Superstore at 2390 Willow Oak Dr in Wesley Chapel. (near S.R. 56 and Willow Oak, just east of I-75).
