ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Three Pinellas boaters are safe and sound after their boat started to sink as water filled the vessel Sunday afternoon, the Coast Guard said.

Around 1:18 p.m., Ramon Garza, the owner of a 22-foot Sea Cat called 911 on a cell phone, reporting that water was coming into his boat, located near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

Once the Coast Guard arrived to the reported area of distress, the crew could not find Garza,66, and the other two people who were on the boat with him.

The crew eventually found the three people in the water, holding fast to their boat, which had sunken so far, only four feet of its bow was exposed.

The Sea Cat had drifted east, a mile and a half away from their original location.

The three people were pulled into the rescue boat and taken to O’Neils Marina in St. Petersburg.

No injuries were reported. All three people where wearing life jackets.

Garza has made arrangements to salvage his boat.
