ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Deneen Sweat said she told her son to "man up and tell what happened" after St. Petersburg Police came looking for the suspect who shot and killed Officer David Crawford.
Sweat also thinks her son, 16-year-old Nicholas Lindsey, didn't act alone. "I don't know what time frame or who came and got him, but he had no reason to be down there by himself," she said.
After the shooting, she said she had a bad feeling. "As a mother, I knew something was wrong."
Sweat said she is heartbroken by the turn of events "We're very, very sorry for officer's family," she said.
Officer Crawford was killed while responding to a report of a prowler.
