ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. - The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office say a 60-year-old Pinellas Park man suffered serious head injuries when he crashed his motorcycle Wednesday night after leaving a St. Pete Beach bar.
Deputies say Earl W. Pruitt, Sr., left Mermaids bar around 11:21 p.m. and proceeded to drive north in the southbound lanes on Blind Pass Road.
Authorities say as he was trying to change lanes, Pruitt hit a curve in the median and lost control of his 2000 Harley Davidson. His motorcycle skidded along the median, remaining in the southbound lane.
Pruitt ended up in the northbound lanes. Investigators say he was not wearing a helmet and suffered life threatening injuries to his head in the crash.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Deputies are investigating if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
