ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. - If you are thinking about heading out to the beach - you don't have to blow your diet by packing junk food in your picnic basket.
Our fitness expert, Paula Jager from CrossFit Jaguar in Tampa says it's not hard to pack a healthy lunch that's delicious and good for you too.
Paula says to remember to stay hydrated. Something plain water is not enough so she suggests coconut water. It will replace some of the minerals that you have lost while sweating at the beach.
Trying thinking ahead. Throw some bone-in chicken on the grill for dinner the night before. Make extra so you can have leftovers for your picnic lunch. Paula also suggests a salad with organic vegetables and homemade dressing. She says the store bought dressings are filled with unhealthy oils. Don't forget dessert. Instead of cookies, trying cutting up some in-season fruit (peaches, blueberries and strawberries) pour a little cream on top to satisfy your sweet tooth.
