14-year-old boy, Franco Harris Thomas, captured in Tallahassee, charged with first-degree-murder

A 14-year-old boy has been captured in Tallahassee in connection with the  July 8 murder of a St. Petersburg man.

Detectives say Franco Harris Thomas was one of three people involved in the murder of 20-year-old Jeremy Myers.

His body was found on a front lawn at 3632 Sea Robin Drive in Coquina Key on July 8.

16-year-old Brittany Detwiler and 16-year-old Scionti Hill were arrested shortly after the crime.  Police say they lured Mayers to the home to rob him.  After the murder, they fled the scene with his wallet, cellphone and car.

"We know during the course of a struggle he was beaten and choked. He was left on the front lawn, " said St. Pete Police  spokesperson Mike Puetz.

According to a release, agents with the U.S. Marshals Service developed information that Thomas was staying with a relative in a Tallahassee home.

Late Tuesday, they entered the home and captured Thomas, who tried to flee.

He will be extradited back to Pinellas County where he already has been indicted as an adult for first-degree murder by a grand jury.

The investigation is now focusing on individuals who may helped to hide Thomas and more charges are possible.
