PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - Law enforcement in Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties are on alert for a gunman who opened fire at an apartment complex in Pinellas Park early Tuesday morning.
According to Pinellas Park Police, the gunman walked up to an apartment building at Runaway Bay Apts. at 4018 88th Ave. around 4:15 a.m. and opened fire eight times.
Police said three adults inside the apartment were not hit in what they believe to be a targeted domestic-related incident.
The suspect fled before officers arrived on scene, but a perimeter was set to search for the suspect. The active search was ended when investigators determined they had a specific suspect in mind.
Police said the suspect is a 5-feet-8, dark-skinned Hispanic male, believed to be driving a 2000 silver-colored Lexus 4-door car. They believe the unidentified suspect is from Tampa and is likely head back to the city.
Alerts have been sent out for law enforcement to be on the lookout for the suspect, who is believed to still be armed and dangerous.
