INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. -
Pinellas County deputies say a roof was ripped off of a lanai at one home in Indian Rocks Beach, walls were caved in, and other nearby houses were damaged after straight-line winds at 50 mph went through the area.
Richard Boin said he was eating dinner when it happened. "All of a sudden this storm hit. I heard a train coming. My wall blew out right in front of where I was sitting, and all of a sudden, the roof took off."
The National Weather Services said there were no reports of tornadoes or waterspouts, but winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour.
The roof of the lanai at at 2301 Bay Boulevard was torn from it's base, and electrical wires were downed along 22nd, 23rd, and 24th Avenues at Bay Boulevard.
