INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. - Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's help in finding an Indian Rocks Beach woman who has been missing since Saturday.
The investigation began Sunday morning when deputies received a call to check the welfare of 35-year-old Kelly Rothwell who lives with her boyfriend, 46-year-old David Perry.
According to a sheriff's statement, the call was made by a friend who was concerned about Rothwell's safety and domestic troubles between the two.
When officers arrived, no one was home and both of the couple's vehicles were missing.
Rothwell's car was eventually found about two miles south of the home.
Repeated calls to Rothwell's cell phone have gone unanswered. Those who know Rothwell say it is uncharacteristic of her to disappear and not return calls.
Rothwell is a police recruit attending the Pinellas Police Academy in St. Petersburg. She has not missed class since she began back in November. She did not show up for class on Monday.
Rothwell was last seen leaving a Clearwater Beach restaurant on Saturday around 3:30 p.m.
Detectives are concerned she may be in danger.
Perry was tracked down in New York state, but refuses to cooperate, according to the statement.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Robbery-Homicide Unit at 727-582-6200.
