BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - A suspect in the disappearance of an Indian Rocks Beach woman two years ago has been released from an upstate New York jail after a jury couldn't reach a verdict in his trial for unrelated charges.
The Press and Sun-Bulletin of Binghamton reports that 49-year-old David Perry of West Elmira was released after a mistrial was declared Friday. A Broome County jury said it couldn't reach a verdict on the grand larceny and insurance fraud charges filed against him in March.
Authorities had charged the former state corrections officer with faking an injury to steal from New York's retirement disability system.
Police in Indian Rocks Beach say Perry is considered a suspect in the disappearance of his girlfriend, Kelly Rothwell. The 35-year-old police cadet disappeared in March 2011.
