HILLSBOROUGH COUNY, Fla. - A small experiment aircraft crash landed shortly after take off, Hillsborough County Fire and Sheriff's Office report.
The pilot, Eugene Massa, 83 of Bradenton, told officials that shortly after taking off from Manatee Airport the plane started to have engine problems.
The ultralite fixed wing aircraft reached 300 feet in the air and then started to rapidly descend.
Massa crash landed in the middle of a cow pasture located at 6528 Highway 41, just before the Manatee County line.
The pilot was taken to Blake Hospital in Manatee County with critical injuries.
Officials say he was alert and talking before being taken to the hospital.
The FAA is investigating the scene at this time.
