RUSKIN, Fla. - Sergio and Juan Guitran will be laid to rest today at noon. Hundreds packed St. Anne's Catholic Church in Ruskin for the wake last night. As the community grieves, the killer remains on the loose and that has many living in fear.
"We can't eat, we can't sleep. We're trying to get over this incredible loss, but that's hard to do when there is no face to the killer yet. He could be here right now and we wouldn't even know it," said a close family friend who was so afraid she didn't want to be identified.
The Guitrans were playing poker on the front porch of a friend's house on Thanksgiving Day morning.
Witnesses said a man pulled up and got out of a green minivan. They said he identified himself as a law enforcement officer and even wore a t-shirt that read "Sheriff." The man reportedly ordered them to the ground and asked about a name no one recognized. That's when witnesses said he opened fire on everyone on the ground.
The Guitran brothers were killed and six others were seriously wounded.
"I was on vacation when this happened, my mother actually called to tell me and I couldn't believe it until I got back, " said Cruz Hernendez, Sergio Guitran's boss.
As many in the community prepare to say their final goodbyes, they tell ABC Action News there will be no peace until the killer is caught.
"I believe Juan and Sergio are still with us in spirit, but they're not at peace because their family is suffering and their killer is still roaming the streets," said the unidentified friend.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's office is investigating. If you have any information, you're urged to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
There is a reward for information leading to an arrest.
