4-year-old severely injured after falling off dad's pick up, authorities investigating

RIVERVIEW, Fla. - A 4-year-old boy is in critical condition after falling off the back of his father’s pickup truck after midnight in Riverview.
Preliminary information indicates that the father and one of his sons were pushing a pickup truck to get it started at the intersection of Greenland Drive and Tocci Lane.
During this process, the 4-year-old son reportedly jumped on the back of the truck and once the truck got started, it lunged forward, causing the child to fall off the back of the truck.
Authorities say the father didn’t know the child fell off until he turned around and came back.
The boy was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident and the roads are currently blocked off.
