BRADENTON - A woman’s body was discovered after her ex-husband entered her Bradenton home and found her dead, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
Detectives are investigating what they call suspicious circumstances, but they do not believe it's a random act.
At approximately midnight Sunday, deputies responded to 5900 block of 36th St. W in Bradenton. When they entered the Coral Club apartment, 30 year-old Jazmin Catano was found in a bedroom with trauma to her body.
The Manatee County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the ex-husband of the victim. He went to the home to drop off the couple's child around midnight Sunday night.
Dave Bartow with the sheriff's office says the ex-husband tried to get a hold of Catano.
"And he gets here, knocks on the door and no one answers and he thinks that strange. He calls the victim on the cell phone and it goes right to voicemail," Bartow said.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death, and investigators say they expect to be on the scene for several more hours.
Investigators also say they have several good leads on what happened and are actively pursuing them.
