BRADENTON, Fla. - A 17-year-old has been arrested for the New Year’s Day murder of another teen in Manatee.
This is the first homicide of the year in Manatee County, the Bradenton Herald reports.
Officials say the suspect, Danny Waiters, was on the 1800 block of Manatee Avenue East in the City of Bradenton with two other men for what detectives believe was a drug related transaction at 8:30 p.m. Jan. 1.
Paul Grieco, 16, Brandon Keisel and Dillan Contreras, both 20, drove up to the location in a car and were approached by Waiters.
Waiters stuck a hand gun into the window of the vehicle and at some point, fired several shots at the victims.
Grieco died at Manatee Memorial Hospital and Keisel is recovering at Blake Hospital.
Contreras wasn’t injured.
Waiters has been charged with Homicide. Additional charges and more arrests are expected.
