SARASOTA, Fla. - The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office announced that an almost year long undercover operation on a prescription fraud ring landed dozens of people behind bars Friday afternoon.
Deputies arrested 29 people in "Operation Bad Apple," a prescription fraud ring with operations all over Florida.
Officials recovered $40,000 in cash and 7,000 oxycodone pills.
Apple Pharmacy in Englewood, Fla., about 30 minutes away from Sarasota, was involved in the operation.
The Sarasota Sheriff’s Office says the investigation on this crime ring continues.
