MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. - Authorities are searching for the suspect who drove off after fatally hitting a pedestrian with a vehicle in Manatee Monday morning.

The crash happened on 51 st Ave East.

The pedestrian was walking west on 51 st Ave East. The vehicle was also heading west on 51 st, when for unknown reasons, the driver struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian ended up in a ditch while the driver fled.

The victim died on scene.

The victim’s name is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any knowledge as to the identity of the driver or the vehicle are asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at (239) 938-1800.
