PALMETTO, Fla. - The Palmetto Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting.
It happened outside a Citgo gas station located in the 200 block of 10th Street West around 6:30 p.m. Friday.
According to police, 25-year-old Jesse Schwartzman of Ellenton was shot as he drove eastbound on 10th Street West, just after leaving the gas station.
Preliminary reports indicate that a pick-up truck pulled up next to Schwartzman's vehicle and one of the occupants shot him. The victim then drove off the road and crashed into a concrete barrier near one of the gas pumps, according to detectives.
The victim reportedly had a passenger in his vehicle that was unharmed, and fled the scene after the shooting and crash. He is described as a black male with a medium build, approximately 5'10", with short hair and wearing tan cargo shorts.

Police are especially interested in information concerning the shooters, their vehicle, or the passenger in the victim's car. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
