BRADENTON, Fla. - Two Bradenton men are behind bars after the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said they led deputies on a high speed chase with two children in the back seat.

Patrolling deputies say they heard shots fired just before midnight on Tuesday near 8th Street Court East.  When they went to see what was going on, they heard a car speeding off.

"We talked to witnesses at the scene and we got information to identify the shooter," said Dave Bristow with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.  He said the suspected shooter was Devante Brown, 19.  Bristow said a short time after the shooting, deputies got a tip their guy had been spotted at a gas station near the scene.

"We found him at a gas station in Bradenton and he takes off," said Bristow.

Brown was actually the passenger in the car when deputies arrived.  Robert Bing, 19, was driving.  They took off northbound down 1st Street, reaching speeds of 90 miles per hour for about a three mile chase up the De Soto Bridge.  It was at the top of the bridge where the driver lost control, hit another car, and came to a stop.

While Brown and Bing have been arrested and charged for this incident, they may be hit with even more charges.

"Were aware of both of the persons that we apprehended," said Bristow.  "Well be going over other cases to see if they were possibly involved in other incidents in Manatee County."

The children in the back seat were 11-months-old and two-years-old.  There is still no word if they are related to the men in some way.

In the backseat with the children was a woman.  Investigators are working to find out if she was involved with the two men driving or if she was just as innocent as the children.
