Shooting suspect, driver charged after leading deputies on high speed chase with kids in car

BRADENTON - Manatee deputies say two suspects on the run had children inside of their car while they lead officials on a high speed chase that ended with a crash Tuesday night.

The driver, 19-year-old Robert Bing and his passenger, 19-year-old Devante Brown, were fleeing from the scene of a shooting that happened at 5613 8 ^th Street Ct E in Brandon around 6:00 p.m.

Deputies were in the area on another call when they heard a shot being fired and a car speeding off at the next street over.

Deputies headed to the area and found a 2010 Chevrolet with a fresh bullet hole in the rear window.

Witnesses were questioned, deputies learned that Brown was the shooter and he was at the Shell gas station at 836 301 Blvd E.

Multiple deputies arrived at the gas station and tried to block the driver from fleeing, but the vehicle made it onto 301 Blvd, and a pursuit began.

The driver fled north onto 1st Street, reaching speeds of  90 mph, and continued toward the Desoto Bridge. 

Near the top of the bridge, Bing lost control and struck the back of another driver’s car.  The suspect's vehicle was rendered inoperable. 

Bing and Brown, along with a woman and two children were removed from the vehicle that fled. 

There were no injuries. 

The driver was charged with multiple charges, including Child Neglect, due to the presence of two small unsecured children in the car.

 The passenger, Brown, was charged with the shooting that happened earlier.

A firearm was also recovered near where the pursuit began. 

Deputies were unaware of the presence of the children in the car until the pursuit ended.
