BRADENTON, Fla. - A 32-year-old Manatee County man is facing multiple charges after trying to steal copper from Florida Power and Light.
According to the arrest report, around 11:35 p.m. on Sunday Matthew Conner and an accomplance entered the FPL property at 1851 Whitfield Avenue in Bradenton and broke into two of the trucks.
The pair attempted to steal several rolls of copper before being spotted by patrol deputies.
The two suspects ran but Conner was apprehended by K9 Barley with a bite during a chase
The other suspect has not been located at this time.
Conner is facing multiple charges including Armed Burglary, Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest without Violence.
He was taken to the Manatee County Jail and is being held on $31,620 bond.
Conner is no stranger to law enforcement officers.
Conner was previously arrested with wife, Tina Thompson on September 18, 2010, for Robbery with a Deadly Weapon. Deputies say the pair robbed a person at knife point with Conner holding the victim in a headlock while his spouse took the wallet from the victim's pants pocket.
According to Sheriff's records, Conner was also arrested in 2010 for Grand Theft Auto and in 2006 for Dealing in Stolen Property.
