BRADENTON, Fla. - The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible case of child abuse.
Deputies said a Bradenton man brought his 3-year-old son to Manatee Memorial Hosptial, concerned about an infection on his son's leg.
He told nurses that on Saturday, he noticed burn marks on Elisaac's leg and talked to his girlfriend (the child's mother) about it. The girlfriend, he said, told him she would take their son to see a doctor.
He was not sure if she made good on that promise. The boy's leg, however, was bandaged.
When the father removed the wrapping Wednesday night, he noticed infection and immediately brought his son to MMH.
He told deputies that he was unsure how the injury occurred, adding that his girlfriend sometimes left their children in his care without telling him, and during his normal sleeping hour. He sleeps during the day since he works overnights.
Deputies said the boy told them his brother caused the injury.
