Auto-theft suspect flees from traffic stop, crashes into tree, bails on accident scene

BRADENTON - Officials are searching for a suspect who fled from a Bradenton traffic stop and crashed into a tree overnight.
A deputy spotted a stolen vehicle at 53 rd Avenue and 15 th Street East.
He attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver fled south at 70 mph and eventually crashed into a tree at Whitfield Ave. and 15 th Street E.
The passenger, who officials say is known gang member 18-year-old Juan Santos was taken into custody.
The driver bailed from the vehicle and is on the run.
The suspect is described as a black male, 6 feet and thin. He was wearing all black and possibly goes by the nickname “D”.
