Authorities searching for father who stabbed son in the neck, victim undergoing surgery

BRADENTON, Fla. - Authorities are looking for a man who stabbed his son in the neck in Bradenton early Wednesday morning.

John Brewer, 40, got into an argument with his son John Brewer Jr., 20, at the son’s apartment, located on the 3500 block of 14th Street West at 1:15 a.m.

The father stabbed his son in the neck with a pocket knife, authorities said.

He then fled on foot while witnesses called 911.

The area was searched but the suspect was not found. The son was taken to Blake Hospital and is in surgery. He is expected to recover.

The search for the suspect continues.
