BRADENTON, Fla. - Manatee County deputies have arrested a Bradenton man and charged him in the attempted abduction of a 7-year-old girl.
The child was playing with two other girls at Pride Park on 9th Street East around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday when they were approached by a man. He grabbed the 7-year-old by the arm and told the girls that "he had a secret" and they needed to come with him, according to a sheriff's statement.
The girl managed to break away but he grabbed her again and she once again was able to escape. The girls ran to a nearby home and told an adult about the incident. They were not injured.
Investigators identified Kelvin J. Oakley, 20, as a suspect.
He was arrested and charged with Attempted Kidnapping Sunday.
