MYAKKA CITY, Fla - A 2-year-old tagging along with her brother and uncle to the family pond drowned late Wednesday in Manatee County.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home on 75th Ave. East, Myakka City for a possible drowning.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, 2-year-old Kristina Contreras followed her brother Sergio and Uncle Jose to a pond on their property to cast net some fish.
The brother and uncle told deputies when they began to walk back to the house the 2-year-old was behind them.
After about ten to fifteen minutes, they realized she was not inside the home. The uncle went to the pond and found the infant submerged.
Her brother pulled her from the pond and tried to save her until emergency crews arrived.
