BRADENTON, Fl - Manatee County Sheriff Brad Steube announced a second man has been charged in the 2009 shooting death of Crystal Johnson.
Johnson, then 19, was six months pregnant.
Everick Houston is now facing two first-degree murder charges.
"This is a blessing from God," said Susan Moore, Johnson's mother. "I prayed and prayed."
According to deputies, Crystal was at home with her boyfriend, mother and sister, when two men kicked in their apartment door. They lived at DeSoto Village Apartments in the 3800 block of 5th Street East in Bradenton.
Johnson was shot once in the neck and died instantly.
"She was on the bathroom floor. She shook a couple times and that was it," Moore explained.
Johnson's baby was delivered at All Children's Hospital but the baby later died.
Houston was originally charged with murder in 2009 but the charges were dropped after the judge ruled a piece of evidence was inadmissible.
"I wanted to die," Moore recalled.
Detectives say they have since collected evidence connecting Houston to the crime scene.
A grand jury indicted Houston in April.
In 2012, a jury convicted the other suspect in the case, Gregory Kennon, on two counts of first-degree murder.
"I hate them both for what they did," Moore said.
