Winter Haven neighborhood evacuated after suspicious bag found behind house

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - A Winter Haven neighborhood that was evacuated after a suspicious bag was found is back to normal after authorities confirm no explosive devices were found.

The package was found behind an abandoned home at 724 Ave NE.

The fire department arrived at the home to put out a reported fire. Once it was extinguished, a crew member noticed a duffel bag with wires and strange beeping noises.

Every home within a two block radius was evacuated as a precaution and officials remained at the scene.

At 10:00 a.m., the scene was cleared after no explosives were found inside of the bag.

A complete investigation is underway. More information will be released as it becomes available.
