Homeless man stabs friend after fight over remote control

Suspect faces murder, robbery and drug charges

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - According to the Lakeland Ledger, a homeless Winter Haven man allegedly stabbed his wheel chair-bound friend to death over a remote control.

Investigators say the suspect, 29-year-old David Matthew Young admitted to stabbing 54-year-old Martin Vasser at the Sail Wind Apartments, after he repeatedly changed the channel.

A building maintenance worker found Vasser a few days later.

Police, inmates and solid waste workers teamed up at the Polk County landfill, to look for a a knife allegedly used in a murder.

In addition to the stabbing, Young also confessed to stealing $12 and and prescription drugs he later attempted to sell.
Young is in the Polk County Jail, facing first degree murder, armed robbery and drug charges.
