Polk County attorney William 'Bill' Evans charged with running meth lab out of Bartow home

POLK COUNTY, Fla. - A Polk County attorney is under arrest and faces numerous charges, including running a methamphetamine lab our of his Bartow home.  

56-year-old William "Bill" Evans was already under investigation when he was involved in a minor crash on Wednesday.  Detectives went to the scene and a K-9 unit detected drugs in the car.  Detectives found a baggie containing meth and a glass pipe containing meth residue, according to a sheriff's statement..

A search warrant was obtained for his home at 260 West Van Fleet drive in Bartow.  Once inside, detectives found the equipment and materials required fo a meth manufacturing operation.

Evans was already on probation for Disorderly Conduct and meth manufacturing.

The new charges include, Manufacture of Methamphetamine. Possession of Listed Chemicals, Using  Residence to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Maintain Vehicle for Drug Use and Violation of Probation.

Evans was held on no bond pending first appearance in court.
