WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - A Winter Haven man is behind bars after he tried to solicit a 13 year old girl from north of Milwaukee to move with him to Florida, police said.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, Donna Wood, claimed Devin Moon,26, started chatting with the minor on an online gaming site called “kabam.com” toward the start of June.  Police say Moon exchanged phone numbers with the teen through the site.

Moon learned the girl’s home address and the school where she attends through their phone conversations.

As the two continued to talk, the conversations started to turn sexual. Moon sent the teen inappropriate photographs of himself and claimed he was teaching her about sex.

Moon started to make plans to travel to see the girl. Detectives say he had searched maps of the girl’s school in order to direct her on where to meet him when he arrived in Wisconsin.

“The plan” as Moon called it, was for the 13 year-old to meet him at the dumpsters of her school at 9 a.m. on October 5 th, where he would bring her back to Florida to “start a new life together. ”

Detectives say Moon was planning on bringing the girl back to Florida under a false name and age. Moon reportedly told authorities he was planning on changing her name to Infinity Moon and changing her age to 23.

He had even purchased clothing to conceal her identify and a wig to help disguise her.

The girl’s father learned of her contact with Moon and reported their interaction to Milwaukee authorities. The Wisconsin Department of Justice became involved and was able to track down Moon with the help of Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

When detectives arrested Moon at his Central Avenue home just after 9:30 a.m. Friday morning, they found a wig and a smaller sized woman’s shirt.

After his arrest, Moon allegedly admitted that what he had planned was “wrong and unlawful.”

This was not Moon’s first time meeting a minor online. He told officials that he had met a 17 year-old girl online back in 2010 and moved from Oregon to Winter Haven to be with her.

He claimed that once he arrived at the girl’s home her grandmother forced him to leave. Moon said he had not contacted the teen since then.

Moon is being held at the Polk County Jail on $85,000 bond.
