LAKELAND, Fla. - Deputies are calling a crash in Lakeland "bizarre" after an SUV left the road, went through a fence and narrowly missed a home.
Emergency crews were called about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a single vehicle crash along US Highway 92 and Parsons Road.
They found the SUV on top of a fence near the Bide-A-While Mobile Home and RV park. Two inside were dead at the scene. It is not clear how the vehicle traveled eastbound on Memorial Blvd., and ended up on top of the fence heavily damaged.
One of the US Hwy 92 eastbound lanes is shut down, from Reynolds Road to Old Dixie Hwy. The westbound lanes are unaffected. Motorists are encouraged to choose an alternate route.
Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash. Look for updates on ABC Action News and abcactionnews.com .
