LAKELAND - A Lakeland high school was placed on lockdown Monday morning after ammunition was found in the parking lot.
A school resource officer at George Jenkins High School found the bullets around 11:30 a.m. The school was placed on lockdown so that deputies could search the campus and talk to students.
A Polk County Sheriff’s spokeswoman said no one at the school has received any kind of threat, and there is no indication the ammunition is related to a specific threat.
The lockdown was lifted after nothing else suspicious was found. Students were able to go home through normal means.
