LAKELAND, Fla. - The Polk County School District is reaching out to help the wife of a slain Tampa Police officer, Jeff Kocab.
The school district decided Thursday they'll host a barbecue at Kathleen Middle School to raise money for Kocab's wife, Sara. Sara works as a dean at the middle school.
Associate Superintendent Dr. Bruce Tonjes, who is organizing the event, is hopeful that the event will raise as much money as their last large cook-off, which took in around $30,000.
The barbeque will be held on July 17, from 11am to 6pm. Funds will be raised by selling pre-ordered slabs of ribs, which will go for $20 a piece.
Pre-orders are being taken at:
