LAKELAND, Fla. -
The last 24 hours have not been easy for the Earls.
"These words that these kids are saying have affected so many people," said Darlene Earls.
Last night, the Lakeland mother was woken up by relatives telling her to log onto Facebook. Someone had created a Facebook page aimed at her 12-year-old daughter Brianna. It implied she would be the next victim.
The page had one post: "Brianna Earls needs to go (profanity) kill herself!!!! She's friends with Rebecca Sedwick."
"It really kind of broke my heart. She was a really good friend of mine," Brianna said.
Last week, Rebecca Sedwick, 12, committed suicide. Brianna said she was a good friend of Sedwick's. The two girls met at Crystal Lake Middle School.
Sedwick's family said Rebecca had been a victim of bullying and cyberbullying.
"There's no doubt in my mind that whoever posted this page about Brianna was involved in giving Rebecca problems," said Darlene.
The Earls worry their daughter could be the next target.
"This isn't going to stop. If somebody doesn't do something now it's not going to stop," she said.
The Facebook page has been reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. It remains unclear who created it.
