LAKELAND, Fla. - Roughly a month after the Lakeland community bid farewell to slain police officer Arnulfo Crispin, it will come together again Friday night to raise money for his family.

The benefit concert is belong held at the Youkey Theater in the Lakeland Center beginning at 7pm. The event runs until 10pm.

"The community support that we've seen over the past month has really been nice to see that the citizens of Lakeland are behind their police department," said Lt. Hans Lehman, with the Lakeland Police Department.

Among those to show support is Ken Brady, who felt compelled to put his musician's cap on and put together the benefit concert with roughly six acts, including his own vocal group, Ken Brady's The Casinos.

Other groups performing include: Finesse, Lola & The Saints, Johnny Alston & His Motown Review, and Dani Panic, a Michael Jackson Impersonator.

"The idea is not about coming to see us all perform, it's about getting money to these families so they have some help," Brady said.

All the money raised will go to the family of Officer Crispin -- part of it will help pay for what's bound to be an emotional trip for them this spring.

"We're raising funds for travel expenses for the family to go to D.C. to see Officer Crispin's name on the National Memorial in May," Lt. Lehman said. "We're also raising funds to take care of his family."

Tickets cost $20. They will be available at the Lakeland Center box office until 7:30pm Friday night.
