Sheriff: Lake Wales man stabbed grandmother 93 times

LAKE WALES, Fla. - Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said a man is suspected of shooting his grandmother in the back of the head with a crossbow arrow while she was sleeping, then stabbing her 93 times.
Judd said Jasper Aristotle Smiddie, 19, allegedly killed his grandmother, Gloria Helfrich, 66, on Tuesday, February 7, at their home on Wales Street in Lake Wales.
Judd said he did it in order to "inflict as much pain as possible on his uncle," the victim's son.
Smiddie was arrested Wednesday in Highlands County, and will be charged with first-degree murder, said Judd.
