LAKE WALES, Fla. - Good Samaritans came to the rescue of a Lake Wales woman Monday morning when she was attacked by two mixed breed pit bulls, police said.
Tammy Little, 46, was talking a walk with her small dogs around Lake Wailes Park when 'one or both' pit bulls charged. Several passersby saw what was happening, rushed to Little's aid and were able to stop the attack.
Little's injuries were serious, but not life threatening. She was airlifted to Lakeland Hospital, according to a police statement.
Little's dogs were not hurt.
The two pit bulls were picked up by Polk County Animal Control. The dog's owner was cited but will not be charged. The dogs reportedly were in a fenced yard. It's not clear how they got out.
Little is the wife of Reverend Charles Little, Minister of Creative Arts at the First Baptist Church of Lake Wales.
