ST. PETERSBURG - A 47-year-old St. Petersburg woman charged with fatally stabbing her boyfriend Thursday morning told police she committed the crime after the victim physically attacked her, according to the St. Petersburg Police.
Officials received a call about a stabbing on Queensboro Avenue South just after 1:30 a.m.
When police arrived, they found the unresponsive victim suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to Bayfront Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:42 a.m.
An investigation revealed that the victim and his girlfriend, Annanay Teaheartt, were having a verbal argument.
Teaheartt told detectives the victim assaulted her with a box cutter and hit her in the face outside of the home where the incident occurred.
Teaheartt said she then went inside the home, got a knife, went back outside and stabbed her boyfriend.
Officials say Teaheart had an injury to her lip, but the box cutter she mentioned in her interview was not found.
Teaheartt was charged with second degree murder.
The victim’s name will be released once his next of kin is notified.
