GULFPORT, Fla. - A 16-year-old student has been arrested for bringing a loaded gun onto the campus of Boca Ciega High School on Thursday.
A school resource officer found the gun while investigating an altercation between two students.
The .380 semi automatic pistol was found in the trunk of one of the student's car. It was loaded with one bullet.
According to a release from Gulfport Police, the gun had been reported stolen from Clearwater.
Investigators with both agencies are working to return the firearm to the owner.
The student has been charged with a felony for possessing a weapon on school grounds.
It is unclear if the student was involved in the theft of the gun.
