Police: Known sex offender John Connanghton exposes self to children, adults at Kenneth City Kmart

KENNETH CITY - A known sex offender was arrested late Monday after he exposed himself inside a Kenneth City Kmart store, according to a police statement.

Officers were called to the retail outlet at 4501 66th Street North around 6 p.m.  They interviewed witnesses who included two young children.

Police determined the suspect was John Robert Connaughton, 38, of St. Petersburg.

Connaughton had already left the store, but was tracked down and arrested a short time later.

He is charged with lewd and lascivious exhibition.

Connaughton, who was being held on $20,000 bond, has a lengthy jail record, according to the Pinellas Sheriff's Office web site.
