ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Morgan Martin's mother should be welcoming her first grandchild into the world Friday. Instead, she's left wondering what happened to her pregnant daughter.
Martin has been missing since July 25. She was 17 at the time but her birthday was December 1. Her due date is January 4.
"I don't know, I just keep my fingers crossed for a phone call," said Leah Martin, Morgan's mom. "I really do."
Martin intended to name her daughter Ja'Leah Raquel in honor of her mother.
"She asked me," Leah Martin explained.
St. Petersburg Police spokesperson Mike Puetz told ABC Action News the investigation into Martin's disappearance is active and on-going but it is likely she met foul play. Police, however, have not found a crime scene or a body.
Martin was last seen outside of her family's home off 17th Avenue South in St. Petersburg. She told her family she was going outside to talk with her baby's father. Martin, who was wearing a white tank top, a pink furry hoodie and slippers, never came back.
The teen was known for posting to her Facebook page multiple times a day and would frequently call her mother. Her Facebook page has not had any updates. Martin also hasn't contacted any family members.
Police said the baby's father has been cooperative with the investigation.
Her family members have started a Facebook page to help find Morgan .
Anyone with any information regarding Martin's disappearance should call police at 727.893.7780 or Crime Stoppers at 800.873.8477.
A $1,000 reward is being offered for information in this case.
